London Bus I
The story of the London Bus told through four films: Omnibus 150 made in 1979 to celebrate 150 years of bus service in the capital; Overhaul from 1957 showing a bus being overhauled at the Aldenham works; The Nine Road from 1976 which shows a day on the route from Liverpool Street to Mortlake and Getting to Grips from 1984, filmed on the famous Chiswick skid patch, which was closed down six months after the film was made.
London Bus II
This sequel to The London Bus features never before released footage of the Routemaster, STL and RT. Films include: A Century of Buses from 1956 covering a parade of buses in Hyde Park with the first appearance of the Routemaster; One for One from 1963 describes the overhaul of buses at Chiswick Works; County Buses from 1948 shows an abundance of STL, T and RT types out at work in the expanding towns around London that LT served; specially recorded recollections by Colin Curtis who worked in the Routemaster design team. This film is from the London Transport Museums own archives.
