Metropolitan Line luggage racks

Luggage rack dimensions

Those who grew up travelling on the London Underground cannot fail to remember the iconic Metropolitan Line trains with their high back seats and commodious luggage racks

The racks have worked hard for over 50 years carrying briefcases, shopping bags, suitcases and coats on the Metropolitan Line between the Baker Street to the outer London suburbs of Chesham, Amersham and Watford

Own an original piece of London history

London Transport Museum has rescued a limited number of original 1960s luggage racks from decommissioned Metropolitan Line trains.

The luggage racks come in three sizes (illustrated below) and are made from aluminium, which means they are strong but very light. They have been professionally cleaned and made ready to be repurposed.

The racks make perfect hallway storage, but also work well in the kitchen, bedroom, bathroom, or the workplace.

Prices start at £150 for the small rack and £250 for the large rack.
