Herbert Truman, along with George Bradshaw, was the leading force behind the formation of the St Ives Society of Artists. He worked in a number of styles, earning praise for his originality and versatility.His favourite subjects became the harbour and quaint old houses at St Ives, and he painted a group of properties on the harbour front from different angles time and again.
