The Underground Map by Harry Beck, 1933
Harry Beck is best known for designing the diagrammatic map of London's Underground system. He proposed the design in 1931 whilst working as a draughtsman for the Underground. In 1933, after the formation of the London Transport, Frank Pick gave the design a trial printing. The diagrammatic representation, which proved to be popular and easily understood by Underground passengers, has been used ever since. Beck also designed a number of posters for the Underground Group in the early 1930s.
