London Buses 1918 - 1929.

At the beginning of the period of this book, the London General Omnibus Company (LGOC) was struggling to provide the needed level of bus services, having lost many of its vehicles that had been requisitioned for war service. It was then faced with new competition from a variety of independent bus operators, some with only one or two vehicles, who together presented a big challenge to the mighty “General”.

Alongside this, there was a constant battle against the conservative attitudes of the traffic authorities towards bus design which hindered progress. The battle for London's streets that characterised much of the 1920s led to the campaign for unification and the bill that was to lead to the formation of the London Passenger Transport Board.

This book is packed with information and 260 quality black & white archive photos.
