The London trolleybus between 1931 & 1946 - an illustrated history.
Trolleybuses first came to London in a small way, being introduced in south west London in 1931 by London United Tramways. Following on from this, in five years between 1935 and 1940, London Transport built up a massive and complex trolleybus network in its replacement of trams. When the second World War brought development to a halt, London Transport had an operational fleet of 1,671 trolleybuses - by far the largest fleet in the world.
