About the artist
Man Ray - 1938
In 1915, the year of his first exhibition, Man Ray met Marcel Duchamp and Alfred Steiglitz. With Francis Picabia the formed the New York Dada. In 1921 Man Ray moved to Paris. He joined the Dadaists group led by Andre Breton, which led to his involvement in Surrealism. Man Ray became known for his experimentation with photography, in particular his creation of photograms, or "rayographs".
