About the Artist:
Edward McKnight Kauffer (American, 1890–1954), first attended art school in the United States. Later, with the help of University of Utah professor Joseph McKnight, he was able to further his studies in Paris. Grateful for the patronage, Kauffer adopted McKnight’s name. Cubism, Futurism, and Surrealism found expression in his posters, which translated the complicated language of the avant-garde into accessible commercial design.
