Virgin Trains are the franchised operator of the West Coast Main Line railway network from London Euston to the West Midlands, North Wales, North West England and Glasgow in Scotland, and for 15 years have provided key towns and cities on the network with high frequency services using a fleet of new electric 'Pendolino' trains.
Virgin Trains commissioned their in-house designer Sam Jessup to produce a series of nine stunning art-deco styled posters featuring their distinctive trains and promoting the travel opportunities they offer to their customers.
Sam worked as a professional designer for agencies in both the UK and Miami, Florida, and joined Virgin Trains 5 years ago with the aim of reviving and refreshing their internal and external graphic communications. In that time, Sam has played a role in the design of everything from Virgin's train livery, to staff uniforms, ticket machines, station interiors, advertising campaigns and much more...even the crockery and glassware used in First Class.
London Transport Museum is delighted to work in partnership with Virgin Trains to offer these modern, stylish and highly collectable posters to the public.
Only 100 of each design have been made available to the Museum.
