This poster published by the Underground Group in 1912 stylishly advertises the Boat Race and was designed by Charles Sharland. It is encouraging passengers to book to the following stations to enjoy the Boat Race; Putney Bridge, Hammersmith Ravenscourt Park, Stamford Brook, Turnham Green and Chiswick Park. It was the 69th Boat Race held on the River Thames which took place on the 30th March, with a re-row on 1st April due to Cambridge sinking and Oxford being waterlogged. Reigning champions Oxford succeeded in winning the re-row by six lengths. Charles Sharland designed posters for the Underground Group between 1908 and 1922. Charles Sharland was a prolific studio artist at printers Waterlow and Sons. He never signed his work for London Transport.
