‘Rugby at Twickenham’ was painted by Laura Knight, one of the most popular British painters of the 20th century. Knight, who was born in Long Eaton Derbyshire, studied at the Nottingham School of Art from 1892 and in 1936 was the first woman elected as a full member to the Royal Academy.
