This vibrant image by Frederick Charles Herrick was published by the Underground Electric Railway Company in 1925 and it refers to how the Underground keeps London running whist offering warmth and brightness when travelling. Frederick Charles Herrick designed posters for the Underground Group and London Transport between 1920 and 1933 F C Herrick studied at Leicester College of Art and Crafts and the Royal College of Art. He designed the famous Wembley Lion logo for the British Empire Exhibition in 1924 and worked as a painter. A prolific poster designer he also produced posters for the Anchor Line (steam ship company) and the RMSP (Royal Mail Steam Packet). Most of his many Underground posters were designed for the Baynard Press, where he was Head of Studio.
