Always warm and bright was designed by Mervyn Lawrence for the Underground Group in 1912. This poster is a vibrant depiction of a London Underground carriage filled with comfortable passengers, safe from the outside elements. The use of reds and oranges as the predominant colours gives an instant feeling of warmth to the viewer, as is indicated in the title. Mervyn Lawrence, born 1869, designed posters for the Underground Group in 1912. During his career, Lawrence worked as Head of Painting at Westminster School of Art under Walter Sickert. Mervyn Lawrence died in 1963.
