The use of reds and oranges as the predominant colours gives an instant feeling of warmth to the viewer, as is indicated in the title.
Mervyn Lawrence, born 1869, designed posters for the Underground Group in 1912. During his career, Lawrence worked as Head of Painting at Westminster School of Art under Walter Sickert. Mervyn Lawrence died in 1963.
