This stylish poster depicting a player volleying at the net in a tennis match promotes the Wimbledon Tournament and how to travel to the grounds via special bus from Southfield station. It was published by the Underground Electric Railway Company in 1922 and designed by Aldo Cosomati. Aldo Cosomati designed posters for the Underground Group between 1922 and 1928. Born in Italy, Aldo Cosmati settled in London at the end of the First World War. He lived in Zurich for five years where he studied drawing, printing, bookbinding, and furniture design. He specialised in commercial art and was introduced to Harold Curwen by Tichard Temple. He continued to work for the Curwen Press until 1970.
