A poster by Charles Paine to advertise travelling to Kingston on Thames by tube. Kingston on Thames is depicted by white ducks on a green Thames, with a black background. The poster was produced in 1920, designed by Charles Paine on behalf of the Underground Electric Railways Company Ltd. Charles Paine was born in 1895 in Salford and died 1967. He studied at Salford College of Art and later went on to teach at Edinburgh College of Art. His poster designs for the Underground were mainly the result of his association with Baynard Press with whom he produced posters and graphic designs for a large range of companies.
