The Camden Town Junction tunnels were opened on April 20th,1924. They were unique in that the tunnels were built whilst the trains were still working through parts of the tunnels. The trains on these lines ran from either Highgate to Moorgate, or Hendon to Charing Cross and as the lines did not cross each other the service provided was quicker. The total number of trains using this section of the railway was 160 per hour and at the time there was no other system of junctions like it in the world.
This diagrammatic poster designed by Charles W Baker, explained the new junctions and was produced for the Underground Electric Railway Company Ltd.
