Transport for London invested in a large new fleet of trains for all of its sub-surface tube lines, which in turn meant the withdrawal from public service of all older trains on the sub-surface network. The Circle, Hammersmith & City and part of the District lines were operated by C stock trains first introduced in 1970 and finally withdrawn in June 2014. A special poster for the final railtour of a C stock train was produced featuring Paddington main line station and depicting both a C Stock train and a British Rail 'Western' class diesel locomotive which could have both been seen together in the early 1970's at this historic London main line station.
