Pinner Print Poster

Limited edition print set of 100 by Nancy Smith of the artwork for Pinner Poster. This print comes originally from a poster produced in 1916 that promotes Pinner as a pleasant country village destination that can be reached by the Bakerloo Railway and the London & North Western Railway. The Illustration by Nancy Smith depicts a country scene with mature trees and long, summer shadows. Pinner is northwest of London, an area that was soon to become dominated by the suburban development known as Metro-Land. The print is produced from the original artwork and has been scanned to ensure the vibrancy of the artwork is captured rather than the more muted poster. About the artist

Nancy Smith was born (Annie Smith) in Chesterfield on the 24th August 1881. Nothing for certain is known of her early art training but by 1909 she had illustrated her one and only book 'The Making of School Illustrations' although she illustrated many other books. By 1920 she had a studio in Grosvenor Rd, London. In addition to her book illustrations she designed ten posters for the Underground. It would appear that she never exhibited her work in exhibitions.
