A beautiful poster featuring colourful daffodils by Hawley Morgan published by the Underground Group in 1916. It is promoting travel by tram to Kew Gardens in Richmond, a world-renowned botanic garden founded in 1840. Hawley Morgan designed posters for the Underground Group between 1915 and 1916. Hawley Morgan lived in Fulham, west London. He prepared designs for the British Colour Printing Company and an example dating from July 1910 is in the Public Record Office. This poster was printed by Dangerfield Printing Company owned by Frederick Dangerfield, whose factory opened in St Alban in 1896 and became the modern lithographic plant in England. It specialised in printing large colour advertising posters and transfers for railway coaches, buses and trams, producing many posters for London Transport. In 1940 Dangerfield’s was bought by Eversheds who printed there until the late 1990s.
