A striking poster advertising the quickest way to the dog races via Wood Lane by Underground. The Underground roundel is cleverly incorporated into the racing greyhounds face. Alfred Leet designed posters for the Underground Group between 1915 and 1928. Alfred Leet who was born in Northamptonshire in 1882 was the son of a farmer and had no formal art training. He became a humorous illustrator, contributing cartoons to magazines as well as illustrating books, including The Worries of Wilhelm, published in 1916. His Lord Kitchener poster `Your Country Needs You' (1914) first appeared on the cover of the weekly magazine 'London Opinion' before being adapted to be used as a poster. It is the best-known war poster of all time and has inspired many adaptations.
