A poster designed in 1926 by Wilfrid Rene Wood for the Underground Electric Railway Company Ltd. One of many Kew posters this one encourages visitors to go to Kew in the Summer to find a cooler place and view the beautiful lilies, along with all the other summer flowers there. Wilfred Rene Wood was born in 1888 and died in 1976. He was a water-colourist, lithographer and poster designed, born in Manchester who went on to study at Manchester School of Art, the Central School of arts and Crafts and at the Slade Wood. Wood is particularly remembered for the architectural subjects and street scenes of English towns. During his early adulthood he lived in London but later moved to Stamford in Lincolnshire.
