A poster designed by Sybil Andrews, (Andrew Power), to advertise the football fixtures taking place on Saturday 7th October 1933. The poster lists where the matches are taking place and at what time, with a backdrop of a footballer.
Sybil Andrews was born in Bury St. Edmonds in Suffolk in 1898 and died in 1992. She attended Heatherley’s School of Fine art and the New Grosvenor School of Modern Art in London. She met Claude Flight who taught lino-cutting and this became her favourite medium. She also shared a studio with Cyril Power and where they all worked in an avant-garde, Futurist style. The posters Andrew’s produced for London Transport were given the joint signature of ‘Andrew Power’. After the 2nd World War she emigrated to British Columbia in Canada.
