This striking poster depicts The Chase Nature Reserve and was commissioned in celebration of 150 years of the District Line.
The Chase Nature Reserve is best accessed from Dagenham East station which sits on the District Line. This nature reserve comprises of 120 acres of woodland scrub, marshland, ponds and meadow. The Chase is especially popular because of the extensive number of bird species which have been spotted here, within the last 50 years over 190 species have been seen on the reserve.
Ruth Hydes incorporates the mixed terrain of the park along with the popularity of the birds into this beautiful artwork.
Ruth Hydes has been working as a freelance illustrator and painter working in the editorial, publishing and advertising realms since 1995.
Hydes studied graphic design and illustration in Birmingham and Stoke on Trent. Hydes distinctive style is recognisable by the strong drawing element in her work coupled with vibrant colour and dynamic line.
