Fredrick Charles Herrick studied at the Leicester College of Arts and Crafts and the Royal College of Art prior to producing his work ‘It Is Warmer Below’ in 1927 for the Underground Electric Railway Company. This poster came about because of the strong winter weather happening in England at the time and appealed to the predictable, constancy of the climate below ground. The Underground was an escape from the cold rain and fog above to the warmth and brightness below which offered comfort and ease of travel. Fredrick Charles Herrick designed posters for the Underground Group and London Transport from 1920 to 1933.
