This stylized map of Hounslow station and the surrounding area was designed by Herry Perry in 1929. The map points out surrounding towns and activities with a series of names and images. Small characters are visible in every town, accompanied by buses, trains, churches and cathedrals. The map also takes the time to indicates green spaces and farmland.
Born Heather Perry in 1893, Herry Perry studied at London School of Arts and Craft and specialized in wood carving. Perry went on to design posters, pub signs and playing cards and illustrating books including ‘Entertaining with Elisabeth Craig’ before her death in 1962. Herry Perry designed for Underground Group and London Transport between 1928-1937.
