A humorous football poster produced in 1913, capturing a light- hearted view of the dedicated football supporter in England. The painter, Tony Sarq, was born in Guatemala in 1880. His family relocated to Germany in 1887 and he then went on to move to England in 1911. During his time in England he illustrated several books and designed posters for the Underground Group for just two years from 1912-1914. On the out- break of the First World War he moved to New York where he remained until his death in 1942. In New York he worked for many magazines and designed murals for hotels in the city. In his later years, from 1935 until his death, he designed window displays for Macy’s department store.
