Flower Market by Tube, by Kay Gallwey, 1987
Columbia Road in East London is home to a particularly popular London institution. The famous flower market is held every Sunday morning on Columbia Road and the surrounding streets. London Underground commissioned Kay Gallwey to capture the energy, colour and crowds of this weekly event. The poster was so effective at the time of issue that local traders asked London Transport for the campaign to be withdrawn as additional crowds made the market unmanageable.
